Young and Deadly Mob

Year 5 to Year 10

The Young and Deadly Mob program has been established in partnership with the Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships Directorate. Students participate over 6 years, operating in a dual enrolment with their physical home school and Aurora College.

Students seeking enrolment in the Young and Deadly Mob program are considered for entry on the basis of academic merit, which is determined by the students' performance in NAPLAN, prior academic results, and recommendations from schools and community groups.

Primary Opportunity Class

Year 5 and Year 6

Opportunity classes located in government primary schools cater for academically gifted Year 5 and Year 6 students with high potential. These classes help students to learn by grouping them with students of similar ability, using specialised teaching methods and educational materials at the appropriate level.

Students seeking enrolment in Year 5 are considered for entry on the basis of academic merit, which is determined by the students’ performance in the Opportunity Class Placement Test.

Secondary Selective School

Year 7 to Year 10

Selective high schools cater for academically gifted secondary students with high potential who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates of their own academic standard. Selective high schools help these students to learn by grouping them with students of similar ability, using specialised teaching methods and materials.

Students seeking enrolment in Year 7 are considered for entry on the basis of academic merit, which is determined by the students’ performance on the school curriculum and in the Selective High Schools Placement Test. Students also have the opportunity to apply for the selective stream in Years 8, 9 and 10, providing there are vacancies available.

Secondary Senior School

Year 11 and Year 12

Aurora College offers Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to study one or more Preliminary and/or Higher School Certificate subjects that may not be available in their local school.

Enrolments are open to all Years 11 and 12 students in rural and remote government high schools. Students may apply to study one or more Stage 6 subjects with Aurora College.
