Student representative council
Aurora College’s Student Representative Council (SRC) provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and contribute to the life of the school. The SRC represents the student body, promotes student voice, and works collaboratively with staff to strengthen school culture and community connections.
How it works
Students from Years 5–12 are invited to nominate for SRC positions each year. Representatives are elected by their peers and meet regularly online to discuss student-led initiatives, provide feedback on school programs, and plan activities that promote student wellbeing and engagement.
SRC members also work with staff and leadership teams to represent Aurora College at school events, regional forums, and Department of Education initiatives.
Benefits for students
Participation in the SRC helps students to:
- build confidence and leadership skills
- represent their peers and share student perspectives
- contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture
- collaborate with staff and other students on key initiatives
- develop communication, teamwork and organisational skills
The Student Representative Council supports our High Potential and Gifted students by nurturing students’ social-emotional and creative potential through authentic leadership experiences, collaboration, and community engagement. SRC members develop communication, initiative, and teamwork skills that strengthen their wellbeing and capacity to lead.
Building community and leadership
The SRC plays a vital role in strengthening the sense of connection among Aurora College students across the state. Through active participation and shared responsibility, members model the school values and contribute to decisions that enhance learning, wellbeing, and community engagement.
Get involved
All students are encouraged to participate in SRC activities and to consider nominating for leadership roles. Elections are held annually, and information about nominations is shared with students through the Aurora College Student Team.
